OK, so I'm not
exactly a shrinking violet! But, why
would anyone give me the opportunity to start appearing regularly on
radio and more recently TV? A number of years ago, I joined a local
creative writing course in Devon where BBC Local Radio producer Mike
Allen "discovered" me and insisted (he didn't have to insist
very hard!) on my appearing on Radio Devon to provide a regular
"Column of Hot Air". I still absolutely love broadcasting and, by
all accounts, so do the listeners!
Once
the ball started to roll I didn't need my arm twisting to agree to all
sorts of other things. Some of the highlights for me have included ITV's
'Christmases from Hell'; a highly
acclaimed 'Messages to Myself' on Radio Four; appearances in a series
for Carlton TV 'The Seven Deadly Sins', 'Kilroy' for the BBC and, most
recently, hosting for Carlton TV, 'Hurrah! It's Sally Sedgman' in which I visited a
number of prestigious events around the country during the "social
season" and met many fascinating people. I never miss
an opportunity to appear on TV or radio to chat about things that matter to me
like manners, the monarchy and older women behaving badly! |
